About the Content

Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was first announced during the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 2017 and subsequently written into the Party’s Constitution. Five months later in March 2018, the Thought was enshrined in the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China by China’s national legislature, the National People’s Congress. According to Chinese media, Xi Jinping Thought epitomizes the CPC’s latest achievements in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and encapsulates the practical experience and collective wisdom of the Party and the people. As a leading ideology, it will guide China’s pursuit of peace and development for at least the next decade, and will undoubtedly impact the entire world given China’s current status as an economic power. In the five new volumes added to the Studies on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era series, the authors continue the discussion on the Thought from different angles, such as an outline of the Thought,China’s talent strategy, ideological and political education, the rule of law, and social governance.

Today, Xi Jinping Thought has become China’s leading ideology that informs the country’s endeavors to achieve national rejuvenation in the new era. An Outline of Xi Jinping Thought examines the historical contexts of the Thought, maps its various components, and discusses its implications across a wide range of spheres, including the economy, the rule of law, the deepening of reforms in all respects, military development, major-country diplomacy, and the Party’s leadership on all fronts.
