About the Content

Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was first announced during the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 2017 and subsequently written into the Party’s Constitution. Five months later in March 2018, the Thought was enshrined in the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China by China’s national legislature, the National People’s Congress. According to Chinese media, Xi Jinping Thought epitomizes the CPC’s latest achievements in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and encapsulates the practical experience and collective wisdom of the Party and the people. As a leading ideology, it will guide China’s pursuit of peace and development for at least the next decade, and will undoubtedly impact the entire world given China’s current status as an economic power. In the five new volumes added to the Studies on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era series, the authors continue the discussion on the Thought from different angles, such as an outline of the Thought, China’s talent strategy, ideological and political education, the rule of law, and social governance.Talent is universally acknowledged as the primary resource for development. A new era has dawned for socialism with Chinese Characteristics and, along with it, China’s talent development. Through China’s talent management reform, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China led by Xi Jinping has grasped the trends of the country’s future talent development, adopted suitable policies on talent-related work, and thus formed a thought on talent development for advancing Chinese socialism in the new era. Chinese Talent Strategy in the New Era offers a systematic overview of this thought and expounds on its essence, significance, implications, and requirements. Across seven chapters, this book covers a wide spectrum of topics, ranging from upholding the Party’s leadership over talent-related work, launching the strategy of revitalizing the country through talent, deepening institutional reform for talent development, managing the implementation of China’s talent strategy, and building a team of high-caliber Party members, government officials, youths, and professionals.
