Greece, Albania, and Serbia to carry out the “Book Translation on Silk Road – Mutual Learning among Civilizations: China-Balkan Academic Publishing Exchange Events” program. The tour was aimed at deepening academic publishing cooperation between China and the Balkan region and promoting mutual learning among Chinese and foreign civilizations.
During its stay in Greece, the delegation visited Sinoink Monoprosopi Ike and Kastaniotis Editions S.A.. Sinoink Monoprosopi Ike officially joined the Belt and Road Publishing Cooperative. The two sides signed publishing agreements for the Greek editions of Historical Materialism and Contemporary China and Economic Growth and Industrial Structure Evolution: China’s Experience since the Beginning of Reform and Opening-up, and completed the donation and unveiling ceremony of Greece’s first China-Themed Bookshelf.
At Kastaniotis Editions S.A., the two sides signed a publishing agreement for the second Greek edition of The History of Chinese Ancient Educational Thoughts and reached a consensus on holding academic seminars on a regular basis and establishing a platform for dialogue between Chinese and Greek scholars.
In Albania, the delegation took an active part in promotional symposiums for the Albanian editions of Chinese Modernization, Chinese Economy in Dual Transition, and Building a Community of Shared Future for Mankind. H.E. Pang Chunxue, Chinese Ambassador to Albania, attended the entire event. Chairman Li Yongqiang presented the “Outstanding International Partner” award to Fan Noli Publishing House. The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation in book translation and global distribution.
In Serbia, the delegation officially welcomed Službeni Glasnik Publishing House into the Belt and Road Publishing Cooperative. The two sides reached in-depth consensus on publishing China-themed books in Serbian and introducing outstanding Serbian books into China in Chinese translation. In addition, the delegation visited the Cultural Center of Vojvodina and completed the donation of Serbia’s first China-Themed Bookshelf. In Novi Sad, the delegation also visited the Matica Srpska and the Novi Sad City Library, where views were exchanged on book copyright cooperation, mutual translation of academic publications, and other issues.
Through this visit, China Renmin University Press conducted in-depth research on local book markets and reached copyright cooperation and long-term exchange consensus with multiple institutions, effectively advancing China’s publishing in the Balkan region in a targeted and efficient manner, and laying a solid foundation for building a closer pattern of China-Balkan cultural exchange and cooperation.
