From November 15 to 18, 2025 (Beijing Time), in a concerted effort to expand international cultural exchanges and strengthen ties with publishing and cultural institutions in Kyrgyzstan, China Renmin University Press led a delegation of Chinese publishers who participate in the China-Kyrgyzstan Classic Translation Project for a significant visit to Kyrgyzstan. The delegation engaged in a series of fruitful activities, including visiting key cultural venues such as the Kyrgyz National Book Bureau, the National Academy of Sciences, the National Library, and leading local bookstores. A launch ceremony for the new books under the China-Kyrgyzstan translation project was also held, aiming to fully promote the widespread dissemination of the translated classic works in Kyrgyzstan.

On the morning of November 17, the launch ceremony of the new books under the China-Kyrgyzstan Classic Translation Project was held in Kyrgyz National Academy of Sciences. Distinguished guests from the cultural and publishing fields of both countries attended the event. The Chinese delegation comprised nine members, including Mr. Ekber Mijit, former member of the 11th and 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman of the Film and Television Literature Committee of the Chinese Writers Association, and former Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Writers magazine, Mr. Wang Lei, Vice General Manager of China Renmin University Press, Mr. Sun Jingbing, General Manager of Xinjiang University Press, Mr. Huang Yongjun, General Manager of Jiangsu Veritas & Mercurius Publishing Ltd.; and Ms. Gao Yan, Vice General Manager of Jiangsu Veritas & Mercurius Publishing Ltd.. The Kyrgyz side was represented by over 50 guests, including Academician Akm at Alievich Abduldazhan Ematovich (Акматалиев Абдулдажан Эмматович) of the Kyrgyz National Academy of Sciences and Chairman of the Kyrgyz Committee for the China-Kyrgyzstan Translation Project, Professor Askar Medetov (Аскар Медетов) of Kyrgyz National University, Mr. Talantaly Chunghulov (Тажеяр Чонгулов), Editor-in-Chief of the “Ala-Too 24” news channel of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Ms. Torgoyeva Emira (Толгоева Аймира), Editor-in-Chief of Kyrgyz Humanities Publishing House. Together they celebrated this milestone in cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The newly released titles represent a fruitful outcome of the translation project, covering classic works from diverse fields. Among the ten translated works unveiled are the Kyrgyz versions of Towards the Rule of Law: From a Legal System to a Rule of Law System (Мыйзамдык башкарууга карай кадам таштоо Мыйзамдык системадан мыйзамдык башкаруу системасына өтүү), Economic Growth and Structural Evolution: China’s Experience Since the New Era (ЭКОНОМИКАЛЫК ӨСҮШ ЖАНА ТҮЗҮЛҮШ ПРОГРЕССИ:КЫТАЙДЫН ЖАҢЫ МЕЗГИЛИНЕН БЕРКИ ТАЖРЫЙБАСЫ), The Chinese Experience of Democracy (ДЕМОКРАТИЯ ЖОЛУНДАГЫ КЫТАЙ ТАЖРЫЙБАСЫ), An Authentic Interpretation of The Art of War (Сун Зынын аскердик ыкмалары жөнүндө), The Gourmet (Чүйгүн даам татуучу), The Straw House (чал үй), and To Live (Тирүүлүк). Meanwhile, the Chinese editions of Kyrgyz classics, such as Light of Kyrgyzstan (Свет Кыргызстана), The White Ship (Белый пароход.), and The White Deer (Ак Бугу), were also presented.

Ekber Mijit noted that China and Kyrgyzstan share many cultural similarities. He pointed out that the Epic of Manas is not only a national heroic epic of Kyrgyzstan but also one of China’s three major ethnic epics, which exert a broad influence in both countries. Citing the Chinese proverb, “A close neighbor is better than a distant relative,” he expressed the hope that the peoples of China and Kyrgyzstan will foster harmonious relations for generations to come through cultural ties. He emphasized that the publication of translated books between China and Kyrgyzstan serves as a vivid testament to the cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries in the new era.

In his speech, Chairman Akmat Alievich Abduldazhan Ematovich (Акматалиев Абдулдажан Эмматович) spoke highly of the event. He stated that the publication of the first batch of books under the “China-Kyrgyzstan Classic Translation Project” marks a significant milestone in the successful implementation of this key government-led initiative between the two countries. He emphasized that this outcome holds immeasurable importance in promoting cultural exchange and enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
