From September 21 to 30, 2025, CRUP delegation led by Li Kailong, General Manager of CRUP, visited Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia. The delegation participated in the Indonesia International Book Fair, hosted new book launches, and conducted copyright negotiations during the visit to actively promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Southeast Asian nations.

The delegation visited the Malaysian Chinese Association, the University of Malaya Press and the Association of Translation and Creative Writings, Malaysia and held in-depth discussions in Malaysia. During the visit, the delegation, in collaboration with the Malaysian Cultural Creativity and Education Association, launched a release ceremony for the Malay edition of Chinese Modernization. A translation cooperation agreement for the Malay edition of Subtraction of Education was also signed with the Association of Translation and Creative Writings.

In Indonesia, the delegation participated in the Indonesia International Book Fair and several cultural exchange events. Established in 1980, the Indonesia International Book Fair is a highly influential publishing exhibition in Southeast Asia. At the book fair, CRUP showcased its academic titles including the “Research Series on Chinese Modernization”, the “Research Library on China’s Independent Knowledge System”, Modernization of China’s Agriculture and Rural Areas, and Internet Philanthropy in China, attracting significant attention from local readers.

During the book fair, a series of promotional events for the foreign-language editions of Image of China in Indonesia: A Study on People-to-people Exchanges Between Indonesia and China were held. On September 24, the delegation participated in the launch event for the foreign-language editions of the book on the main stage of the book fair. On September 25, the delegation attended the China-Indonesia People-to-People Exchange Forum and Image of China in Indonesia at the Adhyaksa Law School of the Attorney General’s Office of Indonesia. At the forum, Li Kailong delivered a speech sharing China’s experiences and concepts in the field of people-to-people exchanges, providing new ideas for cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia.

That afternoon, the delegation went to the Confucius Institute at Al Azhar University in Indonesia to attend the Fifth China-Indonesia Cultural and Translation Publishing Forum. Li Kailong delivered a keynote speech titled “Mutual Learning, Intercommunication and Integration to Promote the Flourishing Development of World Academic Publishing and Cultural Education”, which was highly recognized by the participants.

In Cambodia, the delegation visited The Cambodia Chinese Daily and the Cambodia Publishing and Distribution Company, engaged in in-depth discussions in the field of media communication, explored cooperation paths in information dissemination, and gained a thorough understanding of the local publishing and distribution process and market environment. The delegation also discussed cooperation models and development directions to lay the groundwork for expanding publishing operations in Cambodia.

Through this visit, CRUP delegation showcased China’s outstanding publishing achievements through a series of pragmatic and productive activities while gaining deep insights into Southeast Asian countries’ book markets and cultural demands. CRUP will continue collaborating with Southeast Asian partners to broaden cooperation domains and diversify partnership formats. Together, China and Southeast Asian nations will write a new chapter in cultural exchange and cooperation, contributing wisdom and strength to advancing the building of a community with a shared future of humanity.
