ZHOU Shengya (born in November 1934, Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province) is a professor at the School of Literature, Renmin University of China. He graduated from the Department of Chinese Language, Jilin University in 1961 and obtained a master’s degree in Chinese history in 1965. His research direction is history of Chinese language.

The history of Chinese language is a new language discipline composed of the history of Chinese phonetics, the history of Chinese grammar and the history of Chinese vocabulary. The history of Chinese grammar is composed of two parts: the history of Chinese words and the history of Chinese syntax.
