Recently, at the 15th China International Digital Publishing Expo, the CNKI · China Scientometrics and Bibliometrics Research Center released a series of reports on the evaluation of academic influence of publishers, including the “Most Academically Influential Presses (2015-2024) Lists” covering 19 disciplinary fields, and the Top 20 Academically Influential University Presses.
The statistical objects of this year’ s lists are 585 presses recognized by the National Press and Publication Administration. The “Most Academically Influential Presses” are selected in 19 separate disciplines; the “Top 20 Academically Influential University Presses” are selected in two categories: the field of philosophy and social sciences, and that of natural sciences, engineering and technology.
China Renmin University Press is listed in the “Most Academically Influential Presses (2015-2024)” in 8 disciplinary fields: respectively Law, Management, Education, Economics, Sociology, Literature, Political Science, and Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Interdisciplinary Studies. Additionally, it ranks among the top two in both the “Philosophy and Social Sciences” and “Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology” categories of the “Top 20 Academically Influential University Presses (2015-2024)”.
This report adopts bibliometric methods to fully reflect the overview of book publishing in China over the past decade and objectively measure the academic influence of China’ s book publishing houses in various disciplinary fields. The report shows that China Renmin University Press ranks among the top in indicators such as book publication count, total citation frequency, and average citation frequency per book during 2015-2024. This demonstrates that China Renmin University Press is not only a key publishing hub for philosophy and social sciences in China, but also a leading brand in science and technology publishing among university presses across the country.
