About the Content
Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was first announced during the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 2017 and subsequently written into the Party’s Constitution. Five months later in March 2018, the Thought was enshrined in the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China by China’s national legislature, the National People’s Congress. According to Chinese media, Xi Jinping Thought epitomizes the CPC’s latest achievements in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and encapsulates the practical experience and collective wisdom of the Party and the people. As a leading ideology, it will guide China’s pursuit of peace and development for at least the next decade, and will undoubtedly impact the entire world given China’s current status as an economic power. In the five new volumes added to the Studies on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era series, the authors continue the discussion on the Thought from different angles, such as an outline of the Thought, China’s talent strategy, ideological and political education, the rule of law, and social governance. The rule of law is the pillar of societal and institutional development and the optimal approach to modern state governance. Xi Jinping Thought on the rule of law comprises a complete set of rich concepts, profound arguments, and rigorous logic, and represents the definitive guideline for China’s law-based governance in the new era. In Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, the author unpacks the significance of advancing law-based governance on all fronts and explains Xi Jinping’s expositions on the rule of law. The book also outlines methods of promoting the rule of law, such as establishing a complete legal framework, effectively enforcing the Constitution, launching the administrative reform, building a uniquely Chinese judicial system, achieving good social governance, cultivating talent, and upholding the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
