ZHANG Yunfei is a professor of the School of Marxism Studies of Renmin University of China (RUC) and a researcher at the National Academy of Development and Strategy of RUC. Zhang\u2019s research interests include the systemic study of Marxism and its relationship with ecological civilization and social development. He has published extensively both in China and abroad, and is the author of more than 46 academic works and over 200 journal papers. Among many other accolades, he was awarded the first prize of the 14th Beijing Outstanding Achievement Award for Philosophy and Social Sciences by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Beijing Municipal People\u2019s Government in August 2017, and the second prize (the first prize being vacant) of the Fourth Outstanding Achievement Award for Marxism Research (Works) by the China Marxism Research Foundation in November 2015.<\/p>\n

About the Content<\/p>\n

The Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was ffrst announced during the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 2017 and subsequently written into the Party\u2019s Constitution. Five months later in March 2018, the Thought was enshrined in the Constitution of the People\u2019s Republic of China by China\u2019s national legislature, the National People\u2019s Congress. According to Chinese media, the Xi Jinping Thought epitomizes the CPC\u2019s latest achievements in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and encapsulates the practical experience and collective wisdom of the Party and the people. As a leading ideology, it will guide China\u2019s pursuit of peace and development for at least the next decade, and will undoubtedly have an impact on the whole world given China\u2019s current status as an economic power. Studies on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era consists of 10 books written by prominent scholars from Renmin University of China. In these books, the authors offer their interpretations of and insights on various aspects of the Thought, including its origin and signiffcance, as well as its manifestations in Party building, economic development and reform, ecological civilization, education, diplomacy, state governance, rural revival, and poverty alleviation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Communist Party of China shall lead the people in building a socialist ecological civilization\u201d\u2014these monumental words were incorporated into the Constitution of the Communist Party of China at the 18th CPC National Congress and then further developed as a concept during the 19th CPC National Congress, unveiling a new era of China\u2019s development. Building an Ecological Civilization provides the reader with an overarching view of China\u2019s approach toward ecological civilization, outlining the country\u2019s theoretical framework and concrete strategies, including its policies, plans, and regulatory efforts.
