To further implement the Global Civilization Initiative, advance the mutual translation projects of classic works between China and Thailand as well as China and Laos, and deepen publishing and cultural exchanges with Southeast Asian nations, China Renmin University Press (CRUP) delegation, headed by Deputy Editor-in-Chief Yu Bo, paid a visit to Thailand and Laos, where it conducted a one-week-long cultural and publishing exchange program.<\/p>\n

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. The delegation from CRUP, the main organizer and undertaker of the China-Thailand Classic Works Mutual Translation Project, visited the Thailand-China \u201cBelt and Road\u201d Research Center, the key Thai institution responsible for the translation project. During the visit, a signing ceremony for the Thai version of How the Communist Party of China Achieved Success: Principles and Practices <\/i><\/em>was held. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions and finalized a plan to further advance the China-Thailand Classic Works Mutual Translation Project.<\/p>\n

During its stay in Thailand, the delegation also reached a cooperation intention with the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University, one of the leading universities in Thailand, on an integrated training model of \u201cChinese Language plus Vocational Education\u201d.<\/p>\n

In Laos, the delegation held discussions with the Confucius Institute at the National University of Laos on potential cooperation, with a focus on the collaborative development of Chinese-Lao bilingual versions of books such as An Overview of Chinese Culture<\/i><\/em>.<\/p>\n

To promote the China-Laos Classic Works Mutual Translation Project, the delegation engaged in talks with Ms.\u00a0Kham Fong, Director of the Literature Department under the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and other officials. The two sides conducted earnest and detailed communications on specific issues concerning the mutual translation project, digital publishing and other related matters. Five academic books including Marching Toward Rule of Law: From Legal System to Government of Law<\/i><\/em>, were recommended to the Lao side to be included in the translation project for publication in Laos.<\/p>\n

This visit, a key response of CRUP to the Global Civilization Initiative, has deepened the cultural exchanges and mutual learning with Southeast Asian countries and contributed to a closer and more strengthened China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future. CRUP will work to deliver tangible outcomes from this visit and continue to ensure that China-Thailand and China-Laos cultural exchange programs progress with greater depth and concrete effects.<\/p>\n
