The 2025 London Book Fair commenced at Olympia London on March 11th<\/sup>. The delegation of China Renmin University Press attended the book fair and carried out publishing seminars, professional negotiations and exchanges with leading publishing institutions from the UK, Ireland, and other countries.<\/p>\n

During the book fair, the delegation visited stands of key partners including renowned publishing groups such as Cengage, Macmillan, and Taylor & Francis, to learn about the latest industry trends, product features, and marketing strategies in the international publishing industry, while exploring business opportunities with publishing institutions from the UK, Ireland, and other countries around the world.<\/p>\n

From March 10th<\/sup>\u00a0to 15th<\/sup>, the delegation conducted a series of publishing exchange activities with renowned publishing institutions in the UK and Ireland. The delegation conducted publishing seminars with the Irish Publishing Association, the Royal Irish Academy, and three Irish university presses. Dr. Ruth Hegarty, Managing Editor of the Royal Irish Academy, who provided the overview of Ireland\u2019s publishing industry and highlighted the Royal Irish Academy\u2019s achievements in the fields of book and journal publishing. The two sides exchanged views on current achievements and future development of the publishing industry, with a particular focus on the open-access of e-books, university textbook publishing, and market trends. During the delegation\u2019s visit to Edinburgh University Press, Sarah McDonald, the Head of Publishing\u00a0of EUP,\u00a0shared insights on book and journal publishing, as well as the development of EUP\u2019s academic committees. At Penguin Random House headquarters UK, the delegation learned about their key business areas including adult non-fiction, children\u2019s books, and educational publishing. The two sides explored potential international collaboration opportunities and discussed market preferences in China. The delegation also visited Elsevier\u2019s Oxford office, meeting with Jason Mitchell, Chair of the Oxford Society of Publishers Committee and Senior Editor-Publisher in Elsevier Publishing House. Drawing on his rich experience, Mitchell shared cutting-edge perspectives. Through a series of seminars and exchanges, both parties discussed emerging trends and hot topics in publishing, exploring future collaborations through mutual learning.<\/p>\n

The delegation also conducted field research at local bookstores, libraries, and publishing institutions to learn more about the international dissemination of Chinese culture in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n
